January 9, 2018 | Press Releases

Chelsea, Mass. (January 9, 2018) – Olivia’s Organics, a leading supplier of organic tender leaf greens, spinach and celery hearts, is pleased to announce that on Jan. 11, 2018, it will visit three elementary schools in southern Maine as part of the WinterKids Winter Games. Olivia’s Organics team members will host a fun and educational assembly on organic farming and produce and donate fresh greens and salad kits to the school cafeterias.

“Forming healthy and responsible eating habits early in life is so important,” said Mark Pins, Marketing Director at Olivia’s Organics. “We’re excited to support WinterKids in that goal. Plus, we love meeting current – and future – Olivia’s fans and teaching kids that eating their greens can be fun and delicious.”

To kick off the Winter Games, Olivia’s gave students at each participating school a “Healthy Veggie Superheroes” booklet outlining the health benefits of different greens and offering the best Olivia’s Organics recipes for kids. To continue the celebration, Olivia’s Organics will visit three schools in southern Maine during Nutrition Week:

  • Park Avenue School (Auburn-Androscoggin County) – Team Olivia’s will host an assembly for 4th, 5th and 6th grade students on organic farming and produce. Olivia’s will also donate greens and salad kits containing produce, dressings and salad accoutrements to the school.
  • Waldo T Skillin Elementary (South Portland-Cumberland County) – Team Olivia’s will donate greens and salad kits.
  • Dayton Consolidated School (Dayton-York County) – Team Olivia’s will donate greens and salad kits.

WinterKids is a nonprofit dedicated to helping children develop healthy, lifelong habits through education and fun, outdoor winter activity. Each year, it holds the WinterKids Challenge. This year’s challenge is the WinterKids Winter Games to celebrate the 2018 Winter Olympics. During the month of January, 16 schools throughout Maine compete for cash prizes, winter equipment and other rewards. Schools earn points for getting students to participate in outdoor physical activities, healthy eating activities and collaborating with healthy eating and active living organizations in their community.

Supporting organizations like WinterKids is a core part of Olivia’s Organics’ commitment to making this world a better place for future generations. In addition to donating fresh greens and hosting educational assemblies, Olivia’s supports community-based charitable programs through the Olivia’s Organics Children’s Foundation. With every Olivia’s purchase, a portion of the proceeds goes directly to the Foundation to support the work of many deserving local organizations.
