Every family has their classic Thanksgiving menu. Turkey? Almost definitely. Stuffing? Probably. Oyster stuffing? Maybe just us New England folks. These are the treasured family recipes and dishes that don’t (and shouldn’t) change from year to year.
But somewhere on every Thanksgiving table, there’s an opportunity to try something new. To introduce a new classic that will become a must-have in the generations to come. This week, we’re sharing a few ideas for fun new Thanksgiving side dishes. Whether you’re planning the full meal or contributing a dish to the feast, we hope you’ll give one of these recipes a spin!
Baked Brie & Spinach Appetizer:
Let’s start with a classic appetizer that doesn’t always find its way to Thanksgiving tables. We think it should. It’s decadent and combines sweet and savory, just like your Thanksgiving dinner plate. Plus, it comes together quickly and only occupies a corner of your oven for 10 minutes.
Citrus & Kale Salad:
Counter all that T-day decadence with this bright, simple salad that will enhance the flavor of everything else being served. Just don’t forget the flaky sea salt!
Pro Tip: Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for an extra kick and crunch!
Butternut Squash Salad:
If you’re hankering for a more traditional side salad, this option has all the hallmark flavors of fall. Of course, butternut squash is the starring role.
Spinach Cheddar Muffins:
For as many Thanksgiving traditions there are out there, we’re lacking a consistent bread option (unless you count stuffing). Our vote is to make these delicious spinach cheddar muffins your go-to. Try them and you’ll see why.
Voila! Four side dishes worthy of a coveted spot on your Thanksgiving table.
Now it’s your turn. What’s the most popular side dish at your turkey day dinner? Is your Thanksgiving a potluck, or does one family handle the whole thing? Which cranberry sauce is superior? Reach us at firstname.lastname@example.org or tag us on Instagram – that’s @Olivias_Organics.
