New Holiday Traditions to Love!

December 9, 2020 | Newsletters

The holidays are in full swing! But like so much of this year, this holiday season is going to look a little different. Many of us are rethinking our annual traditions and reimagining new ways to celebrate.

With that goal in mind, we put our heads together to come up with some tips for new and updated holiday traditions that add fun and festivity. Enjoy!

1. Stop and see the lights! Is it just us, or do people seem to be stepping up their decorations this year? There’s no better way to spend the evening than admiring the creativity of your community. Enjoy a free light show with your family! Bundle up, grab your to-go mugs of hot cocoa, put on some Christmas carols, and drive around to check out all the decorations your neighborhood has to offer.

2. Host a virtual candle lighting! Hanukkah begins at sundown tomorrow night. Host a video call with friends and family to light the first candle and kick off the festival of lights in style. This Potato & Leek Fritters recipe is a great way to take your first night celebrations to the next level!

3. Take your gift exchange nationwide! Now’s a great time for faraway loved ones to join in celebrations virtually. Use technology to your advantage by setting up a long-distance Secret Santa gift exchange. Mail gifts ahead or find clever ways to brighten someone’s day from afar. It’s easy to create a plan yourself, or a quick web search will reveal lots of apps and websites to help make your exchange a success.

4. Find new ways to give back! From coat and canned food drives to Toys for Tots and volunteer days, lots of people are used to giving back through their workplace during the holidays. At Olivia’s, our annual holiday toy drive is going strong with the ease of online shopping! Even if you’re not back at the office, don’t let those annual good intentions go to waste. Make sure you’re still supporting the causes that matter to you this holiday season.

There you have it! Four fa-la-la-la lovely ideas to make sure you have a fun and meaningful holiday season. Now we want to hear from you. How are you making the most of this most wonderful time of the year, despite the uncertainties?
