Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Every family has those untouchable turkey day traditions … maybe Mom prepares the turkey, Aunt Laurie brings the green bean casserole, and Dad handles the stuffing. Everybody raves about Cousin Jim’s pumpkin pie. These are the tasty traditions we love and look forward to all year.
Far be it for us to suggest any changes when it comes to the classics. However, there’s always room for one more delicious dish, especially on Thanksgiving. This week, we’re sharing a few slightly unconventional recipes for your Thanksgiving table. Who knows? They just must become traditions themselves.
Let’s get cookin’!
Mini Butternut Squash & Apple Tarts:
Is it a side? Is it a dessert? All we know is it’s delicious. These tarts use the totally acceptable shortcut of frozen puff pastry dough and get a fabulous flavor boost of fall flavors.
Broccoli Spinach Soup:
Most Thanksgiving tables tend to have an autumnal look and feel … a browned turkey, orange sweet potatoes, and maybe a few pops of red from the cranberry sauce. This simple (and healthy) soup adds a splash of green to the meal and works as the perfect starter to the heavier traditional Thanksgiving fare.
Spinach Mac n’ Cheese:
Yes, spinach is good for you. Yes, it’s delicious in this update to the classic baked mac n’ cheese. No, adding spinach does not mean this recipe is any less ooey, gooey, or cheesy as an indulgent Thanksgiving side dish.
Harvest Butternut Squash Martini:
After the plates have been cleared and (most) of the cleaning is done, this drink is the perfect way to unwind and enjoy the quieter part of Thanksgiving, full of good food and great times with family and loved ones.
There you have it! Four fantastic recipes that just might become family favorites in the years to come.
