Important question: How soon is too soon to start planning your Thanksgiving menu?

If you’re anything like us, we’ve been thinking about Thanksgiving Day since the first sign of fall! And with the holiday just about two weeks away, the time to plan has finally arrived.

Deciding on what dishes make it on the menu, finalizing shopping lists, and creating fun table settings are at the top of our to-do lists. This year we’re sharing some fresh side dish ideas to add a little flair to the old standbys. Check ‘em out!

Roasted Butternut Squash and Farro Stuffing:
Cornbread, oyster and sausage stuffing are just a few of the countless varieties of this iconic Thanksgiving side. We love this lighter stuffing using butternut squash and farro. The sweet and savory combo is a winner in flavor and texture!

Mashed Potato Spinach Bake:
Add a little fancy! Chives, cream cheese and fresh baby spinach bring the modest mashed potato to the next level of deliciousness. Bonus: Prep this dish ahead and bake right before dinner!

Festive Salad:
Holiday flavors get tossed with a delicious and light vinaigrette. It’s the perfect way to start Thanksgiving dinner. Not to mention … the gorgeous colors make for a great addition to the table decor!

Cranberry and Celery Relish:
According to “Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat” author Samin Nosrat, Thanksgiving spreads don’t offer up enough acidic tastes to balance out the heavier foods traditionally associated with the holiday. This cranberry sauce is alive with bright, citrusy flavor accented by crisp celery.
