As we navigate these challenging and uncertain times, we’re constantly inspired by all the acts of kindness we see and hear about everyday. People are finding ways – big and small – to give back and support those in their community who need it most. Let’s keep it going!
At a time when we’re all struggling in some way and social distancing rules are limiting how we can interact, finding ways to give back is especially meaningful. This week, we thought we’d shine a spotlight on some of the organizations doing great work and highlight a few ways everyone can spread a little kindness and happiness in these trying times. Read on!
1. Support Groups Doing Good!
There are countless groups dedicated to battling the coronavirus outbreak and the damage it’s causing in our communities. Here in the Greater Boston area, we’re proud to support Off Their Plate, a grassroots organization providing groceries and meals to the front line medical staff at Boston hospitals. If you’re able, consider donating to a local cause or nationwide efforts including the Salvation Army and Feeding America.
2. Shop Local!
Local businesses and restaurants are facing particular challenges during this time. Many are offering new ways of getting their products to customers, including curbside pick up and contactless delivery. Make it a priority to support these local establishments and their employees – even buying a gift card can make a big difference.
3. Give a Shout Out!
You don’t have to spend money to give back. Many of us have friends and family putting themselves at risk amid this crisis. Show your appreciation by giving them a shout out on social media, safely dropping off a home-cooked meal or just giving them a call to say thanks.
Remember, the best way we all can support our communities is to do our part to #FlattenTheCurve through social distancing, hand washing and other safety measures. We can get through this together!
We’d like to take this opportunity to say one more HUGE THANK YOU to all the folks doing essential work in these tough times – the health care workers, first responders, delivery drivers, public safety workers and more. We appreciate you!
