Happy New Year!

2022 is already off to a strong start. A new year means new beginnings and an opportunity to make healthy changes in your life. As Maya Angelou said, “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.”

It can be hard to follow through on New Year’s resolutions but with a positive attitude, anything is possible! It’s never too late to start making healthy changes – whether you want to eat more veggies, go on more walks, or meet new people and see new places. Once you get started, the easier it will be to achieve your goals.

This week, we’re sharing a few tips for staying positive and healthy in 2022.

Focus on the good things! There are always going to be challenges and obstacles in life but focusing on the good things, no matter how small they are, will help you find the positivity to overcome them. When something doesn’t go your way, try to find a silver lining.

Practice gratitude! It might sound cheesy but reflecting on the things in your life that you’re thankful for can really make a difference in brightening your attitude. When you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, take a minute to think of the people, places, moments, or things that bring you comfort or happiness.

Get creative with exercise! The winter weather can definitely reduce our motivation to exercise but being active can boost our mood and bring positive vibes on gray days. When it’s too cold to go outside, find new ways to get active inside. For example, try a virtual yoga class or go up and down the stairs a few times to get your heart rate up.

Make your health a priority! This year, put your health first. Take care of your mental health by doing things you love and surrounding yourself with supportive family and friends. Take care of your physical health by getting active and eating nutritious meals that energize you to take on the day.

There you have it! Four ways to start the year on a positive and healthy foot, ready to take on whatever the future holds.
