With the COVID-19 pandemic, the Greater Boston Food Bank has seen a whopping 50% increase in demand for its services. Incredibly, they distributed 8.1 million pounds of food in the month of March alone. In an effort to continue giving back to community partners, our very own Olivia and her tremendous classmates at Winchester High School started a virtual fundraiser. The fundraiser supported children who depend on school programs for healthy meals, senior citizens who are especially vulnerable to the virus, and the thousands of people that filed for unemployment in Massachusetts due to the crisis.
Olivia and her team surpassed their original goal of $2,500 and are continuing to contribute to the incredible cause.
